Failure is the Biggest Motivator
“If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.”
Benjamin Franklin
However, even with the best planning in life, there is still a possibility of failing. So if you are motivated to do better the next time you fail, use these five techniques to turn your failure into success.
Analyze the steps
Focus on the path you took to fail. By taking time to analyze this path, you will be able to learn from the situation. This will not only allow you to figure out where you went wrong, but also what aspects of the situation went well. Doing this will help set you up for success the next time.
Look at your strengths
Next time. Yes, there will be a next time. Just because you did not get the results you expected last time, try the activity again. Remember to focus on your strengths.
Don’t forget those weaknesses
Don’t forget about your weaknesses. Yes, I did just tell you to focus on your strengths. However, do not ignore your weaknesses. Following a plan to improve your weaknesses will help you develop more strengths.
Expect the unexpected
Always expect the unexpected. Realize that something may detour you from your goal. When this happens, be prepared. Remember, if you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.
I think I can. I think I can.
Stay positive. Remember the book, The Little Engine that Could? The book teaches children about staying positive and working hard. He would repeat, “I think I can. I think I can.” Instead of saying to yourself “I think I can,” try holding yourself to a higher standard by saying, “I know I can.”
