LLA Spotlight: Julie Butt
We have amazing therapists at LLA and want to showcase them to you! This week, meet Julie Butt!
Julie is a Physical Therapist who has been with LLA for two years! She serves clients in our Fairlawn Clinic. She chose to become a therapist because she has a passion for fitness and helping people improve their quality of life. She has always loved working with children so she knew early on that she wanted to work in pediatrics. One of her favorite things about being a therapist is seeing her clients accomplish a goal. The pride and excitement that they feel in achieving something that they have been working hard at gives her great joy!
Let’s get to know Julie better!
Describe your role at LLA:
I am a pediatric physical therapist. I work with children at the Fairlawn clinic to address any delays in their gross motor skills (crawling, walking, running, jumping, etc.) as well as limitations in flexibility, strength, balance or coordination. I work with children of all ages from babies all the way up to teenagers.
What is your therapy passion?
I love working with children of all ages but my passion is working with young babies and toddlers on developmental skills. They are changing so much at this age and I also like finding creative ways to make therapy into play.
What is your favorite color?
Blue
What do you do in your free time?
I have two young sons, ages 4 and 2, so I do not get much free time. ? I love playing games or doing activities with my boys. In my alone time, I enjoy reading books, watching TV or movies, exercising and doing puzzles.
What is your best advice for parents who are embarking on a journey with therapy with their kiddo?
You know your child best and are their biggest advocate. Be open to the recommendations that your therapist has, as they are the expert in that area, but if you feel that something is not right or have concerns, you shouldn’t hesitate to discuss it with your child’s therapist.
What is your favorite team?
Pittsburgh Steelers (I know I know…but I have to remain true to my hometown team!)
What is your favorite food?
Any fruit – strawberries, blueberries, apples, bananas…
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I would love to go to Australia.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Butler, Pennsylvania, which is about an hour north of Pittsburgh.
What is your favorite season?
Summer. I love the warm weather, but I have also always lived in places that experience all four seasons and I think I would miss the Fall and Winter if I lived somewhere that was warm all year.
Tune in to our next Spotlight to meet another one of our wonderful therapists!
