LLA Spotlight: Rachel Fischietto

We have amazing therapists at LLA and want to showcase them to you! This week, meet Rachel Fischietto!

Rachel is a Speech Language Pathologist who has been with LLA since August 2019. She serves clients at the Fairlawn and Hudson Clinics. She became a therapist because she is incredibly passionate about communication and how much it impacts our lives. Rachel believes that being able to express yourself is a gift that we take for granted. She feels that being able to create relationships with friends and family is what life is all about! Rachel is beyond lucky to help kids find their voice and interact with others around them. One of her favorite things about being a therapist is being able to help give kids a voice. Rachel loves training and empowering parents to help their child become a better communicator. Lastly, she just loves that everyday looks different! Her job is never boring and there is constantly something new to learn.

Let’s get to know Rachel better!

What do you do in your free time?

In my free time, I enjoy going on walks with my husband, trying new restaurants, spending time outdoors, listening to podcasts, reading a good book, and working out.

What is your best advice for parents who are embarking on a journey with therapy with their kiddo?

ALWAYS ask questions. Never stop asking “WHY”. Also to remember that the majority of the work goes on outside of the therapy room. Therapy is all about giving you the tools to implement when you are at home. You will see the most success when the skills are worked on not just in speech, but at home as well.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Boy that’s a hard question, but I’d have to say Italy. Give me all the pasta and pizza.

What is your favorite inspirational quote?

“Be here now.”

What high school did you go to?

Pine-Richland High School in Gibsonia, PA.

What is the best therapy advice you have ever received?

Make it your number one priority to build a strong relationship with the child you work with as well as their family. It is absolutely essential to success in therapy.

Where did you grow up?

Pittsburgh PA! Despite living in Cleveland, I’ll always be a Steelers fan at heart!

What is your favorite season?

There’s something I love about every season, but I’d have to say Fall.

Would you rather have ice cream or cookies?

Can I pick both??? If you know me, you know that I have the biggest sweet tooth.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

Make your passion your paycheck and you’ll never work a day in your life.

Tune in to our next Spotlight to meet another one of our wonderful therapists!
